Challenge
How to redefine how customers perceive their everyday food grocery shopping experience

The client, a big Swedish grocery retailer, was experiencing a gap in their online offering due to changed consumer behaviour and market competition. The purpose of the project was to develop a new digital product that strengthened the total online offering by meeting the spontaneous purchase online; all the way from strategy, concept development to prototyping, testing and successful launch of a new service application.

Observe people, form insights and frame opportunities

The client wanted to take a stronger position on the market for meal solutions. In order to understand what their customers wanted the first phase included observation and analysis of customer needs and preferences, insights gathering and framing of potential opportunities.

Brainstorm ideas, build and try experiments

A concept development process was initiated with the client to create a product that fulfilled the purpose and that met the customers’ needs – including brainstorming of ideas based on the insights and opportunities, building MVP’s and try experiments to continuously learn, adapt and adjust.

Agile project methods

An agile approach enabled a 9-months fast-tracked innovation & digital product development project, from strategy to launch of a last-mile e-commerce solution. A successful collaboration within a cross-functional team and high-speed development that constantly challenged traditional mindsets with scalable digital solutions enabled a successful launch.

Result

A new digital service putting the client ahead of competition and improved customer experience by offering an opportunity to order both food and groceries with home delivery in express speed through one application

An appreciated delivery application and digital platform for store management among store owners

Reached desired number of onboarded stores earlier than expected

Reached set goals and KPI:s by margin 5 months after launch. Number of app downloads increased in high pace

Contributed to strong incremental awareness and business growth for the client during the Corona Pandemic

Project quickly became highly prioritized and one of the most important strategic projects within the organization and top management
